Celeste is the owner of the rooming house where Alive lives when she moves to Rio. She is a good-humored widow, and has three children: Pedro, Christina and Hugo, who is adopted. She has looked for her missing nephew Francisco Feliciano for years. He is the son of her late sister, Regina.  Due to a misunderstanding caused by Christina, she welcomes Petrônio to her rooming house. She believes he is her nephew. She has a crush for Anselmo, a timid bass player who also lives in the house.
